The New Class will host Professor Stephen Prothero on March 24

On March 24, The New Class will host Professor Stephen Prothero, via Zoom. Prothero is a widely acclaimed expert on the history of American religion.  He recently retired (after 27 years) from the faculty of the religion department at Boston University. Despite “retirement,” he remains active in his career, continuing to write and speak. A tribute to him when he delivered his final lecture as a member of the faculty notes that his "career made him one of ... [Boston] University’s best-known scholars both on and off campus, a public intellectual who wrote bestsellers and columns in major media publications and yucked it up on-air with Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert." His topic, Jesus in American culture, will complement the class theme for the semester: Who is Jesus?

The New Class welcomes others to join us at 9:45 am on Zoom or in Room 208 of the Church School Building any Sunday, but especially for this noted guest. Mark your calendar now for March 24 for his presentation and invite others! For the Zoom link, email Kat Griffith in the church office (noting of course that the office is closed from the end of business on Friday through Sunday, so please reach out soon!)
