Sports and Recreation

The Youth and Activities Building (YAAB), where many of our recreational activities take place, will be closed through November for its first major renovation in 50 years and a small addition.  Here is how the YAAB is being improved:

·         New, wooden gym floor. 

·         An elevator - to allow differently-able participants and onlookers easy access to the gym.

·         Restrooms and a water fountain are being added to the second floor.

·         Additional seating for fans.

·         More storage for equipment.

Exercise Opportunities

"A Smart Workout with Great Music" Fitness Classes

Mondays and Thursdays, 9:30 a.m., Room 422
Join with Susan Lee, a 20 year professional who believes in proven exercise science, not fads. The community built in this class is supportive, friendly and non-judgmental. Train at your own level and encourage each other. $10 per class, $60 for 8 classes. 10% to go to Glenn. Contact Susan if you are interested.
 

Stretch, Flex and More! (temporarily meeting at Church of the Epiphany)

Thursdays, 10:30 a.m.
Led by Ellen Mintzmyer, a certified group fitness instructor, this class is great for older adults and those returning to exercise (even those not fond of exercise!). Fee for the first session is a donation to try out the class, following classes will be $5. (Lower fees can be arranged as needed.) *First timers, please arrive at 10:15am to complete registration form and everyone bring a bottle of water! For more information and to RSVP, contact Rev. Heart to Heart Walking

Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m.
Join us for a "heart to heart" as we walk around the Emory campus to keep our hearts healthy. Meet at the Youth and Activities Building (1669 North Decatur Road). Contact Rev. Susan Pinson.
 

Yoga

Tuesdays at 3:30 p.m. in room 419 of the Church School Building. $10 – first time free!

Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. in room 409 of the Church School Building, led by Caroline Herrick.
$5 per person.
 

Tai Chi (temporarily meeting elsewhere; will return Fall 2017)

Mondays at 10:15 a.m. in the Youth and Activities Building ($10).
