Purpose
This event is sponsored by Wesley Community Centers, which partners with local organizations and residents to offer caring, compassionate ministries in Atlanta neighborhoods with special needs. WCC is related to the United Methodist Church and has roots in Atlanta that go back more than 100 years.
Volunteer Opportunities
Once a year, on the last Saturday in October, United Methodists join together in walking around Stone Mountain to raise money to meet the needs of underserved communities in metropolitan Atlanta. Each walker enlists sponsors among friends and family members. In addition to walkers, volunteers are needed to distribute snacks, monitor pedestrian traffic, help distribute T-shirts and caps, and act as station managers.
If distance, schedule conflicts, or other reasons keep you away from Stone Mountain the day of the Walk, you can still be a “virtual walker” by making a pledge for each mile of the Walk. And if you can’t do that, you can pray for those who walk and those who are served.
