Bible Study with Pastor Mark

Wednesdays, September 5 - October 3, 6:30 p.m., Room 422
Jesus spoke all these things to the crowd in parables; he did not say anything to them without using a parable. —Matthew 13:34. What did he mean? That’s always the question we ask when we hear one of Jesus’ parables. We want some answers, some rules, something we can run with, but Jesus keeps talking in parables. For five Wednesdays, beginning September 5th, Pastor Mark Westmoreland will guide our exploration of the “dark sayings” of Jesus -- the parables.  Some are but a sentence, others rich and detailed stories, but they all have the power to draw us into the mystery and truth of the kingdom of God, the grace of God, and even the judgment of God. We’ll see what commentators and teachers have to say, but, more importantly, we’ll listen. Where will the parables take us? Jesus has something to say to us. May we have ears to hear.
